"MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society is helping Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta after they discovered 90 terrified dogs inside a home that was on fire. The dogs were found Sunday, December 3.

The owner surrendered the dogs to Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta which WHS regularly works with to transfer dogs out of their overcrowded facility to Wisconsin, and immediately offered help.

Early Thursday morning around 2:00 a.m., 17 dogs arrived at WHS from Atlanta. 13 of them are from the hoarding situation.

WHS plans to allow the dogs to settle in through the holiday weekend before deciding who can go through to adoption next week, and who needs further medical and behavioral support, potentially in foster homes. The dogs are very shy and fearful and most of them have respiratory ailments.

“We are in high need of foster homes for not only these dogs, but also other pups currently at the shelter,” said Speed, “And if you can’t foster or adopt right now, donations of any size would be deeply appreciated. It’s community support that makes it possible to provide the medical care these dogs desperately need.”"
